The three films in this series all utilize the concept of the race against time. In Run Lola Run (1999) directed by Tom Tykwer, Lola has 20 minutes to find the money to save her boyfriend. In Little Miss Sunshine (2006) directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, the deadline is longer. The family has two days to travel to the site of the beauty pageant, so Olive can compete. By contrast, Eye in the Sky (2015) directed by Gavin Hood is a tense drama in which a decision needs to be made to assassinate a terrorist while avoiding civilian casualties. But the window to do so is narrowing.
By way of an introduction, I have something a little different this time. Instead of a written essay to introduce the topic of our film series, I have created an audio-video presentation. To watch, click on the link below. You can move from one slide to the next by clicking on the navigation arrows at the bottom or by using the arrow keys on your computer. You don't need to watch the entirety of every film example I've provided. If you prefer to skip, just go to the next slide.
I hope this presentation will give you some insights that will enhance your enjoyment of the films in this series.
