Synopsis:
A young woman, Madeline Brenner, is brought before a district attorney, who is considering charging her with treason. She tells her story.
She was walking on the beach when she was approached by a clam digger. He has a message from her husband, whom she believes had died in the war five years earlier. But he has apparent proof. To see him again, she must follow his instructions.
The next day, she boards a boat with her friends, including Dr. Guernitz. The boat is stopped by a U-Boat who takes Madeline and Guernitz prisoner. She then finds out that this was all a ruse to capture the doctor; her husband is, in fact, dead.
Next the DA brings in Dr. Young, who continues the story. Young worked undercover trying to track down the rogue Uboat. When he finds them, he pretends to be a doctor who studied in Germany. Since he is useful in keeping the ill Dr. Guernitz alive, he is allowed to remain with them.
He tries various means to get word to the Navy on the whereabouts of the U-Boat
