Commentary:

Somewhat disappointing for Mizoguchi. It may be hurt some by missing scenes, but still the plot is rather weepy(?), concerning a circus star who supports a young man through college. She becomes involved in a murder trying to raise money for his support. He, now a prosecutor, must get the truth out of her.

Still, there are a number of lovely sequences. One in particular is of the circus packing up, with a loving(?) dolly down the trees to the pictures being put away on the ground.
