The Women (1939) directed by George Cukor

Commentary:
An excellent film with a great cast. Cukor has made gold from what seems to be a rather ordinary play. It becomes very witty -- especially a witty use of sped up dialogue. In fact, ikn the whole film there is fantastic timing and pacing, credit to Mr. Cukor.
Also, a witty use of camera -- from the opening shot of dogs (instead of their mistresses) to the closing shot of the woman going to greet her unseen husband. Cukor cleverly gets around seeing any men in the film.
